About The Position

The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing shipping operations within a facility or specific region. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4+ years of experience in shipping or logistics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Knowledge of shipping regulations, including DOT requirements
Experience implementing shipping strategies and process improvements
Proficiency in ERP systems and logistics management software
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent team management and communication skills

Nice To Haves

Professional certifications (e.g., APICS CLTD)
Experience in international shipping procedures
Knowledge of lean logistics principles
Familiarity with emerging technologies in shipping and logistics

Responsibilities

Implement and manage shipping operations to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Supervise and mentor shipping staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to procedures; facilitate personnel management activities, from recruitment and promotion to coaching, discipline, and termination, while fostering a compliant and supportive work environment
Oversee order processing, inventory tracking, and transportation management
Utilize ERP systems for shipping transactions and performance analysis
Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, including hazardous materials handling
Maintain relationships with carriers and freight forwarders
Monitor and analyze shipping metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Resolve shipping quality issues, damages, and freight claims
Collaborate with other departments to align shipping operations with business goals
Manage the shipping department budget and resources
Implement best practices in shipping and logistics
Provide regular performance reports to senior management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and performance
Lead with a servant leadership mindset, supporting team growth Promote and uphold a strong culture of safety in all operations
