About The Position

As a Shipping & Warehouse Manager at Atlas Tube Birmingham, a division of Zekelman Industries, this role plays a key part in ensuring efficient shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations that support on-time, high-quality delivery to customers. This position requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and organizational expertise, and offers the opportunity to directly impact customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, and overall plant performance. This role collaborates closely with Plant Leadership, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless coordination of materials, shipments, and warehouse activities. This is an on-site role located in Birmingham, AL. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys leading teams, and is highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse, shipping, or logistics management within a manufacturing environment, preferably steel or metals industry
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Technical Skills – SAP (warehouse, shipping, material handling), inventory management systems, shipping documentation processes
  • Soft Skills – Strong leadership, organizational, time management, and communication skills; ability to manage teams and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Extensive knowledge of warehousing and shipment of steel tubing

Responsibilities

  • Manage shipping and warehouse personnel, including training, performance monitoring, and enforcement of safety and conduct standards
  • Oversee daily shipping schedules to ensure accurate, on-time delivery and maintain high-quality standards
  • Manage storage, handling, and preparation of tubular steel products for shipment to ensure efficiency and product integrity
  • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy using SAP, including oversight of annual physical inventory processes
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and material test reports (MTRs)
  • Coordinate with Plant leadership, Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to support operational needs
  • Inspect and monitor warehouse equipment performance, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Manage local scrap transportation program to ensure efficient and compliant material movement
  • Support logistics and traffic operations to ensure timely delivery and optimize transportation efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned
