About The Position

The Material Handler - Finished Product is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of finished pet food products. This role ensures that finished goods are properly labeled, stored, and prepared for shipping to meet customer demands. The Material Handler also supports inventory management and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred.
  • Forklift experience and certification is required.
  • 2 or more years of forklift experience loading trucks (Required)
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and warehouse operations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping and inventory documents.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Basic math and computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift Operator Certification.
  • HACCP or GMP training is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and transport finished products from production areas to designated storage locations.
  • Ensure that finished goods are properly labeled and packaged to meet company and customer specifications.
  • Organize and store finished products in an orderly manner, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Prepare finished products for shipment by accurately picking, staging, and loading orders onto trucks or containers.
  • Verify shipping documents, such as packing lists and bills of lading, to ensure accuracy.
  • Load finished goods safely onto transport vehicles, ensuring secure placement to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of finished products using inventory management systems.
  • Perform routine inventory counts and assist with cycle counts or full inventory audits.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages, overages, or discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Inspect finished products for defects, damage, or non-conformance with quality standards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and safe material handling practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas to ensure compliance with GMPs and food safety standards.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move finished goods safely and efficiently.
  • Perform pre-operation checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely product availability.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members about issues or improvements related to finished product handling.
  • Assist with warehouse organization and housekeeping tasks.
  • Support other material handling or shipping tasks as needed to meet plant requirements.
