About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Shipping Loader for the 1st shift. This role involves checking, shuttling, moving, and performing all essential functions of a loader. The primary responsibilities include loading trucks by placing parts on trailers safely and in a manner that prevents damage during shipment, packaging and crating items for safe arrival and capacity loading, and weighing trucks of items as required. The loader is responsible for checking each load to ensure completeness and must expedite work to meet production schedules. Additionally, the role involves unloading and checking items against documentation, noting any damages or shortages, and notifying the Team Leader. This position also includes providing on-the-job direction to new employees and assisting with inventory counts. Continuous improvement practices in the work area are expected, and other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 years experience in high production manufacturing environment
  • Be willing to cross-train and be promotable
  • Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Check, shuttle, move, and perform all essential functions of the Loader.
  • Load trucks by placing parts on trailers in a safe hauling manner in accordance with manufacturing procedures to ensure the product does not get damaged during shipment.
  • Package, crate, or load items to ensure safe arrival and capacity loading.
  • Package parts using all types of crating and packaging materials, metal bands, covering, or other methods to secure and protect parts in shipment.
  • Weigh trucks of items as required.
  • Responsible for each lift and decides when to check actual vs. maximum allowable trailer load.
  • Check each load being made to assure that the job is complete.
  • Must expedite completion of work in process to meet production schedules.
  • Unload and check items against freight bills, packing lists, or shipping notices and make notations of damages, shortages, and other irregularities and notify Team Leader.
  • Give on-the-job direction to new shipping/warehouse employees and/or others assisting in shipping/warehouse.
  • Load/unload transfer trucks and load multi-drop route trucks.
  • Assist with inventory counts as required.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
