About The Position

The Shipping Lift Operator 2 role involves further developing skills within the shipping department, taking on additional responsibilities while adhering to departmental policies and procedures to ensure accurate and proper shipment loading. The primary duty is to operate a forklift safely and proficiently for accurate product staging and truck loading/unloading. This position requires knowledge of and adherence to all procedures for safe and efficient departmental operations, working under established guidelines and company policies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency with previous Shipping Tech level duties including 2 years relevant forklift experience with success in passing Paragon’s internal certification.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately train others in previous Shipping Tech level duties.
  • Safely and effectively operate a forklift in a warehouse and production environment with small spaces.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment while adapting to a fast-paced environment and rapid changes.
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail.
  • Able to read and understand shipping documents.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with good problem-solving skills.
  • Practice and promote teamwork within our organization.
  • High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality with the ability to be on call as needed for maintenance issues.
  • Understanding and ability to communicate using the English language in both written and spoken form or willingness to take ESL classes.
  • Computer skills with proficiency or ability to become proficient in ERP and carrier systems.
  • Basic mathematic skills.
  • Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push, pull.
  • Ability to perform pushing, pulling, and forward exertion on a regular basis.
  • Ability to have an overhead extension with arms on a regular basis.
  • Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate industrial power tools occasionally.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously on a concrete floor for 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to stand, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to kneel occasionally.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to twist at the hip and waist area on a regular basis.
  • Ability to rotate the neck to look backward, up, down, and sideways on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally.
  • Ability to regularly lift and or move 45-55 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and or move up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person, and over a paging system.
  • Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the ERP operating system to pull and print pick tickets, packing slips, bills of lading, shipping labels, shipment grids, material status, and order status.
  • Safely and effectively operate a forklift in a warehouse environment with small spaces, loading accurately and efficiently balanced truckloads with minimal supervision.
  • Pick and ship sample orders using the ERP system and FedEx shipping system with minimal supervision, and assist in the Samples area as needed.
  • Collect and organize pick sheets to pick and stage products based on carrier and shipment number, verify product, label for shipment, and scan and load trucks as directed.
  • Report any discrepancies in inventory levels or skids scheduled for shipment to the Shipping Lead or Management for corrective action.
  • Safely and efficiently unload inbound trucks, accurately verify counts and product for inbound shipments, verify shipment to the packing slip, note any discrepancies or damaged items and notify management, submit receipts to shipping office for processing, and stage and put away product as required.
  • Check inventory levels in ERP System, accurately assist in counts of assigned materials and products, and assist in all inventory audits including weekly raw material and month-end inventories.
  • Assist in all phases of housekeeping of the facility and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Scan finished goods into warehouse locations and use the proper mapper to locate products.
