The 1st shift Shipping Lead is responsible for leading work flow, processes, safety, and guiding and documenting behavior and performance of employees in the department. This position will ensure the completion of tasks in the department and complete a smooth and effective pass down to the next shift.

Requirements

  • Previous warehouse experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous experience with directly leading employees, including conducting performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to see projects and processes through to completion

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the 1st shift Shipping personnel activities and workflow. Ensuring that all in-process shipments are complete and shipping invoices are closed out.
  • Perform material handler activities such as picking orders and perform transactions in WMS.
  • Audit shipping team efficiency and transactions accuracy.
  • Send pass down reports to the management and production planning teams as directed by the Shipping management team, as well as sending any relevant pass down information to the Shipping Clerks/Leads for the next shift.
  • Responsible for issuing commendations, verbal/written warnings, and employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for forklift/powered equipment and safety training for the 1st shift Shipping employees.
  • Perform 6S inspections of the Shipping area.
  • Support Shipping project initiatives, for example: installing/replacing warehouse pallet and cantilever racking systems as needed, carrying out and executing Continuous Improvement projects, etc.
