About The Position

Eurofins Food Chemistry Madison is seeking a Shipping Inventory Specialist to join their growing team. This role is responsible for assisting with the workflow on the dock, ensuring smooth functioning of all dock activities and product handling. The specialist will work with Material Handlers and Shipping teams, maintain a clean and organized dock area, and accurately record shipment data. Requirements

  • Shipping Knowledge
  • Certified in IATA Dangerous Goods
  • Knowledge of DOT Hazardous Materials
  • Ability to learn new tasks
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • High School Degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent certificate from a certified institution
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training

Nice To Haves

  • Have knowledge of 49 CFR part 172 and all of its entities, IATA Dangerous Goods, DOT hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the shipping team with organizing incoming and outgoing shipments including receiving, verifying, proper storage, and record keeping of shipments & equipment.
  • Preparing items for shipment, including preparing ARF, assembling, temping, coding, addressing, stamping, and shipping product, equipment or material.
  • Receiving, unpacking, verifying temping, coding and recording incoming product, equipment, or material.
  • Preparing documents such as work orders, bill of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
  • Verifying and documenting incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of material occurring during scheduled shift.
  • Recording shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, temperatures, and damages for reporting, accounting, inventory, and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Assisting with running of errands, procurement pickups and deliveries as needed.
  • Participating in supporting overall facility maintenance as needed.
  • Assisting with all duties related to receiving, distributing, storing, dispensing, of Inventory items.
  • Developing and maintaining on-going relationships with other departments to work with them in meeting the company’s needs.
  • Loading/Unloading freight in a safe manner.
  • Operating and maintaining all equipment needed for handling, ensuring it is in good and safe working condition.
  • Verifying contents of material received under purchase orders.
  • Reporting shortages, damages, and incorrect shipments on appropriate forms and informing the designated personnel.
  • Ensuring proper rotation and organization of stock and participating in physical inventories.
  • Confirming internal stock requisitions, ensuring the correct number and types of product are ordered and delivered.
  • Maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly dock area.
  • Accurately maintaining records in the area of responsibility (i.e. receiving, shipping, and controlled substances).
  • Working closely with internal personnel to maintain understanding of controlled substance handling and effectively control the materials and record to meet all legal, regulatory and company requirements.
  • Conducting all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
