About The Position

This role is part of a team responsible for shipping operations. The inspector will examine parts for defects such as size, color, wood, and scrap, and perform simple repairs as needed. They will also process transactions, organize items for shipment, and ensure accuracy to avoid shipping errors. The position involves operating Powered Industrial Vehicles, pallet jacks, and a stretch wrapper. Components will be located, scanned, obtained, packed, bundled, or palletized with a focus on quality to prevent shipping damage. Additionally, the role includes loading trucks to protect products during transit. A strong emphasis is placed on safety consciousness, good housekeeping habits, meeting quality standards and production goals, and performing other departmental tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Two to three years of work experience
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Ability to distinguish colors and species
  • Ability to read a tape measure and caliper
  • Math and computer skills
  • Ability to read/write/communicate in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-starter who works effectively without close supervision
  • Prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Push/pull carts or pallet jacks
  • Able to work aloft effectively (ladder or lift)
  • Hand dexterity and strength
  • Working in hot or cold environment
  • Overtime is required, including weekends sometimes with little or no advance notice
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule
  • Report to work on a regular basis

Nice To Haves

  • One year of production experience or similar in carpentry or fast paced, detail-oriented environment is preferred
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
