About The Position

Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks. This role requires adherence to a daily production schedule and making recommendations for optimization to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals. Accurate and timely completion of various reports, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data, is essential.

Requirements

  • Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Forklift certification per OSHA standards.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle or feel.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Required to maintain a current Fork Lift Operator License.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of various material-handling equipment is an asset.
  • Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.
  • Knowledge of product quality specifications.
  • Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries.
  • Move materials to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks.
  • Operate and maintain forklift in a safe manner.
  • Complete and document a forklift inspection form before the start of the shift and when operating a new forklift.
  • Submit maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Locate stock before the start of the run.
  • Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Adhere to the daily production schedule.
  • Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
  • Complete necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
