The Forklift Operator is an integral member of the James Hardie Building Products team, responsible for working with machinery, raw materials and other employees to create high quality building material fiber cement products. The best Operators are self-motivated and will strive to understand complex processes and procedures. They will challenge themselves and others for continuous improvement and high product quality. Successful Operators embrace forward thinking and are willing to work on multiple assignments throughout the shift. The Forklift Operator will report to the shipping supervisor and will be responsible for Safety, Quality, & Operations to the equipment he/she is operating.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED
  • Lift 40 lbs. and handle physical work
  • Can work in a team environment
  • Have problem-solving skills
  • Stable work history
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing or with large machinery /equipment
  • Minimum of 1-year experience operating forklifts
  • Ability to demonstrate past successes related to a manufacturing or similar production or support crew environment
  • Understanding of Safety policies to drive best in class to drive a Zero harm culture
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, climb stairs/ladders
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Load/unload rail cars
  • Load semi-trucks
  • General clean up
  • Follow all plant safety regulations and considers safety first in all job actions.
  • Support the Department’s daily, weekly, monthly KPI’s by the performance of planned work.
  • Maintain the highest quality standard.
  • Follow position specific checklist and accepted “best practices.”
