About The Position

PDS Optical is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that manufactures a large number of eyeglasses daily. We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. We take great pride in our product and are especially thankful to produce eyeglasses for United States Veterans. PDS Optical is seeking a Shipping Clerk for our Optical Lab on Bishop Lane. As a Shipping Clerk, you are responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and recordkeeping. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have good computer skills. This is a full-time position that runs Monday-Friday 7:30 am-4:00 pm, with a starting pay of $16/hr. PDS Optical offers a great benefit package, a consistent work schedule, a 40-hour work week, and on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

Receive trays from inspection department, scan trays and print invoice and packing slip.
Compare original order against invoice and review Name, Address, PO, Price, Credit Card if applicable.
If mistakes are found, unship, correct and re-print invoice and packing slip.
Place glasses in a case, wrap with packing slip and rubber band and place in bin for boxer.
Send paperwork on shipped order to the proper scanning or filing area depending on account.
Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates for outgoing shipments and must be familiar with the processes for U.S.P.S, UPS, DHL, etc.
Inserts items into shipping packages using fillers or protective padding if needed.
Weighs and affixes appropriate label or postage needed.
Be familiar with shipping processes such as Tracking, Delivery Confirmation, Signature Required, Insurance, etc.
