About The Position

The Shipping Clerk provides primary administrative support for the Shipping Department and is the first point of contact for all inbound carriers arriving at the Fairless Hills facility. This position coordinates truck arrivals, directs drivers to the appropriate loading location, maintains shipping documentation, and ensures accurate communication between warehouse operations, Customer Service, Transportation, and carriers. Reporting directly to the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and on-time customer shipments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of shipping, transportation, warehouse administration, or logistics experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shipping environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with professional interaction with drivers and internal customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all inbound truck drivers entering the facility.
  • Verify carrier information and shipment documentation upon arrival.
  • Check drivers in and direct them to the appropriate loading location, including Loading Docks 1-4 or the designated flatbed loading area.
  • Maintain an orderly flow of truck traffic to minimize congestion and improve loading efficiency.
  • Communicate arrival status and loading priorities with the Shipping Supervisor, Shipping Lead, and warehouse personnel.
  • Ensure all visitors and drivers comply with site safety requirements before entering operational areas.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain all outbound and inbound shipping documentation.
  • File, retain, and manage Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping records in accordance with company retention requirements.
  • Process shipping documentation accurately and promptly using SAP and other business systems.
  • Support shipping transactions, document corrections, and administrative activities associated with all shipments.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records for internal and external audits.
  • Serve as the communication link between the Fairless Hills shipping department, Morton Customer Service, Transportation, carriers, and warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate shipment changes, appointment updates, delivery issues, and transportation requests.
  • Respond professionally to customer service and transportation inquiries while ensuring timely resolution.
  • Escalate shipment delays or operational issues to the Shipping Supervisor.
  • Support the Shipping Supervisor and Shipping Lead by communicating shipment status, dock availability, and operational priorities.
  • Monitor loading schedules to maximize dock utilization and improve customer service.
  • Assist in identifying shipping process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce delays.
  • Maintain confidentiality of shipping records and customer information.
  • Ensure all driver check-in procedures comply with Morton Salt safety policies.
  • Promote a safe and organized shipping office and surrounding work area.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Immediately report safety concerns, damaged equipment, or transportation incidents to the Shipping Supervisor
