About The Position

The shipping clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments. Their duties include scheduling carriers, prepping the shipment, and processing the bill of ladings and necessary customer paperwork. This role is part of Eaton's IS VEH VGNA division and is located in Indianapolis, IN. The core hours for this role are 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. Eaton announced the intent to separate its Mobility Group into an independent company, expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027. Compensation and benefits initially offered are based on Eaton's plans, with the new company providing further details upon completion of the separation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 years' experience in a warehouse/distribution center environment driving reach truck and or order/cherry picker.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP / Warehouse management systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in all written and verbal formats (speech, writing, reading)
  • Relocation is not provided. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of Indianapolis, IN will be considered.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work specific shift hours and have flexibility to work overtime based on customer demand.

Nice To Haves

  • Oracle ERP and or WMS experience
  • 3 years' experience in a warehouse/distribution center environment
  • Transportation experience within a large warehouse
  • Good organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare product for shipment and process needed shipping paperwork/BOL for assigned outbound shipments.
  • Prevent and troubleshoot logistics incidents that may cause or have caused in-transit delays.
  • Utilize transportation management systems and schedule and coordinate pick up times with carriers (LTL & FTL).
  • Track, trace, update, and correct the status of outgoing shipments and any related shipping errors.
  • Engage with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for system-related or operational improvements to their direct leader.
  • Maximize asset utilization to ensure full truckloads are being shipped.
  • Monitor driver loads, including resolving any issues that may affect scheduled pickup times, while proactively communicating to the affected customer.
  • Implement and support a behavioral-based zero incident safety culture.
  • Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensure they are consistently practiced.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments and external customers to expedite the workflow and ensure established quality expectations.
