About The Position

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for staging, loading, unloading, and transporting raw materials, components, and finished goods within a manufacturing environment. This role involves preparing and verifying outbound shipments, receiving inbound materials, coordinating with various departments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in computer systems. This position also supports production by fulfilling parts requests and emergency orders, and contributes to lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify accuracy of materials and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic math skills related to counts, measurements, and inventory tracking.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems and software platforms.
  • Understanding of quality standards and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and operating equipment.
  • Ability to see clearly, including color perception and peripheral vision, and to hear and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, labels, and inventory records.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing conditions, including noise, temperature variations, dust, fumes, moving parts, and heavy machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Stage, load, unload, and transport raw materials, components, and finished goods within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prepare and verify outbound shipments by comparing contents to packing lists, bills of lading, and production documentation.
  • Receive inbound materials, inspect for damage or discrepancies, and ensure proper documentation and system entry.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Production, and Quality departments to consolidate materials and prepare complete outbound shipments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts as required.
  • Identify and report shipment issues, damages, shortages, or quality concerns to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Support production by fulfilling parts requests and emergency orders to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety policies, manufacturing procedures, and quality standards, including proper use of PPE.
  • Recommend and support process improvements related to shipping, receiving, material flow, and inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, reducing waste, and controlling costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
