About The Position

This role is responsible for various warehouse and shipping duties, including putting away inventory, consolidating stock, rotating inventory using FIFO, and transferring materials within the system. The associate will also be responsible for receiving inbound goods, running and reviewing pull sheets, accurately picking parts using scanners, and ensuring all system transactions are completed in real-time. Packaging, labeling, and tracking of parts are crucial, as is pre-packing upcoming shipments and staging materials in designated areas. The position requires reviewing paperwork for accuracy, performing dock audits, and assisting with loading/unloading trucks. Compliance with customer-specific shipping requirements, safe operation of material handling equipment, and adherence to 5S standards and safety policies are also key responsibilities. The role also supports continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous warehouse, logistics, or shipping experience preferred.
Experience operating a forklift or pallet jack preferred.
Working knowledge of inventory control and warehouse processes.
Ability to read and interpret pull sheets, part numbers, and shipping documentation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic computer and data entry skills.
Ability to operate barcode scanning equipment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Put away QC-approved finished goods into designated warehouse locations.
Consolidate inventory and downsize locations where applicable.
Rotate inventory using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) methodology.
Transfer materials within the system as required (including to FG TRANS or staging locations).
Receive inbound finished goods and verify counts.
Run and review pull sheets for daily shipments.
Accurately pick parts according to pull sheets, scanner verification, and customer requirements.
Use handheld scanners to verify part numbers, quantities, and system transfers.
Correctly complete pull sheets including confirmed piece counts, container type, and weight when required.
Ensure all system transactions are completed accurately and in real time.
Package parts per customer specifications to ensure protection during shipment.
Label containers with appropriate part numbers and shipping information.
Track and record container counts as required.
Pre-pack upcoming shipments in accordance with shipping schedules.
When pre-packing, ensure parts are transferred in the system to the appropriate TRANS or staging location.
Stage materials in designated shipping lanes — do not leave product in general stock areas.
Stage completed shipments in the designated TRANS or shipping area for audit.
Review all paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
Perform dock audits prior to loading trucks to ensure shipment accuracy.
Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
Maintain compliance with customer-specific shipping requirements, including CAT and Kanban programs.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
Complete daily forklift pre-use inspections.
Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards).
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Support continuous improvement efforts within the warehouse and shipping processes.
Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures.
Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.
Report any environmental concerns to supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant manager.
