About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Operator is responsible for various tasks related to material handling, quality control, and general plant upkeep. This role involves operating a forklift to move materials, performing inspections, maintaining records, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. The operator will also assist in other areas of the plant as needed and work collaboratively with production and shipping teams.

Requirements

Highly motivated with a good, sound work ethic.
Prior experience operating a propane sit-down forklift or other mobile equipment (Powered Industrial Trucks).
Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
Ability to follow CMM’s policies, procedures, and instructions.
Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills; ability to use a computer.
Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
Team player able to follow instructions from both management and peers.
Ability to learn and operate new equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-shift forklift inspections.
Record preventative maintenance activities, quality inspection data, equipment downtime, production output, and other key metrics.
Safely operate a propane sit-down forklift to move raw materials or finished products throughout the manufacturing floor, ensuring the production line remains clear and running, and that product and raw materials are properly stored.
Visually inspect material for quality defects, segregate defective product, and notify appropriate personnel.
Fill dumpsters from the production floor and perform housekeeping of the plant, both inside and out.
Work as a team with production and shipping teams to follow all facility Standard Works/processes and improve operations.
Support the recycling area when needed and help to maintain it.
Fill in on other areas of the plant (e.g., Warehouse) as needed.
Assist other forklift operators as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
