About The Position

This role supports the shipping and receiving operation by loading and unloading trucks, staging and arranging shipments, and handling and transporting product through the plant as needed. The position requires proficiency in operating material handling equipment, specifically sit-down forklifts, and maintaining accurate records within the company's operating system. The individual will also be responsible for preparing shipping paperwork, communicating with carriers, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1 year of forklift operation experience, loading and unloading trucks and dock bays.
  • 1 year of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to stand for the working hours of each shift, 9 + hours daily.
  • Ability to walk in the Production department to different areas of work.
  • Ability to use hands for tools.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 30-50 lbs. throughout shift.
  • Ability to participate in team-lifts as specified by leadership.
  • Ability to ride over rough areas for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Load and document loading activity in the operating system.
  • Unload LTL and full truckload trailers as needed.
  • Support front-end packaging lines by handling finished pallets in and out of the work center.
  • Accurately locate both finished pallets and stock items into proper areas.
  • Maintain well-organized shipping and receiving departments.
  • Maintain accurate shipping / receiving records in the operating system.
  • Communicate with all material handlers as needed.
  • Work with the team leader to determine the daily agenda.
  • Organize and locate pallets in the shipping dock holding area for the next day’s shipping schedule.
  • Practice safety rules & procedures.
  • Create and populate shipments in Insight, based on the Sales Order.
  • Plan and assign carriers to shipments, based on the shipment details and customer needs.
  • Communicate with carriers to obtain freight quotes.
  • Arrange Carrier pickups.
  • Prepare the paperwork for all shipments including packing slips, bills of ladings, ground shipping labels, and customs documents if needed.
  • Print, combine, and hang up all paperwork correctly on the carrier board in preparation of the day’s shipping schedule.
  • Enter parcel pickups and attach ground labels to boxes for the small package shipments.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records.
  • Assist with Tracing missing or misplaced shipments.
  • Add Freight charges to customer’s orders.
  • Communicate with Carriers and keep WB employees informed.
  • Compare the ship-to address, quantities, and item IDs with customer sales orders as needed.
  • Back up Receiving Clerk from time to time.
  • Scan and archive all Bill of Ladings.
  • Assist with Freight Claims entry on carrier websites.
  • Assist Parts Puller with order fulfillment.
  • Assist loading or unloading trailers – forklift certification required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, specifically sit-down forklifts.
  • Load and unload trucks/trailers with products and materials.
  • Stack and store materials in designated areas.
  • Transport materials to and from various production areas or locations within the facility.
  • Locate, move, and organize stock product to proper storage or staging areas.
  • Record inbound and outbound loads into the company recordkeeping system including the location of stored items.
  • Collaborate with team lead on daily shipping/receiving agenda and priorities.
  • Organize and prepare pallets and materials in the staging area for the next day’s shipments.
  • Operate company tracker to move and stage storage trailers.
  • Communicate with other material handlers to ensure work is completed and backup support is provided.
  • Regularly inspect forklift equipment, completing inspection logs and reporting any faults or damages.
  • Help support a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Comply with all safety and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
  • Able to work overtime.
