About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. This role schedules inbound and outbound shipments, plans work to meet shipping forecast requirements, and ensures all loads meet the correct footage for the customer.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for business travel, such as, customer visits, to attend required meeting, seminars, etc.
• The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
• Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Pre-schedules daily shipping schedules.
• Verifies status of unfinished orders that can be combined with finished inventory to make truckload shipments.
• Communicates and interfaces with transportation brokers to meet all requirements for shipments.
• Provides shipping operator and tally team with adequate lead-time to prepare orders for loading.
• Provides information to the shipping tally team for any special requirements needed to meet shipments.
• Acts as a liaison with the inside sales department to ensure timely delivery to the customer.
• Reviews Billed Pile report to evaluate the steps necessary to reduce finished inventory.
• Delegated responsibility for meeting customer shipping date in a timely manner.
• Verifies MTR’s through communication with the quality department.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
