The Shipping Clerk's primary function is to ensure smooth and accurate shipping processes. This role involves receiving and processing incoming orders, verifying order correctness, packing items securely, and labeling packages with appropriate shipping information. The clerk will also monitor inventory levels, coordinate with carriers, select shipping methods, prepare shipping documents, and generate shipping labels. Communication with customers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding shipping matters is essential, as is inspecting outgoing orders and resolving any shipment discrepancies. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, manage multiple shipments, and familiarity with shipping software and inventory management systems. Responsibilities also include scheduling export and LTL shipments, handling inbound/outbound calls for customer service, generating reports, and participating in year-end inventory control audits.
