About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the movement of products, supplies, and equipment to and from the John Crane Canada- Edmonton branch. The position involves handling all materials within the department, including loading, unloading, packaging, unpacking, counting, and processing inventory and transportation paperwork or online entries. The clerk will operate equipment such as gas or electric forklifts, hoists, and hand tools, process incoming materials by writing receiving tickets, and record the location of materials awaiting inspection and pickup. Additionally, the role includes preparing products for transportation through rating, palletizing, and using protective materials, as well as weighing and metering shipments for transportation, which involves labeling, adding postage, recording weights and units, and preparing bills of lading and air bills. The position also requires performing other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school degree.
  • Computer skills a must in Microsoft Office, SAP, AS400.
  • Forklift/ lift truck experience and a valid driver's license.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds for short distances.
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.

Nice To Haves

  • College diploma preferred.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in international shipping a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Handles all materials through the department which includes loading, unloading, packaging, unpacking, counting and issuing the proper paper work or online entries for inventory and transportation.
  • Operates gas or electric for lift trucks, hoists, hand tools and other equipment to load and unload trucks.
  • Processes incoming material and writing the receiving tickets for all inventory items, supplies and equipment received.
  • Records location for holding and storage of material awaiting inspection and pick up.
  • Prepares products for transportation by rating, palletizing and using appropriate protective materials.
  • Weighs and meters shipments for transportation (labels, adds postage, records weights and units, prepares bills of lading and air bills.)
  • Performs other duties as required.
