Shippers work independently within a high-performance system. They are required to provide necessary parts or materials to production areas, place received items in correct location, rearrange inventories as necessary, and a variety of other applications. Shippers may be required to switch daily responsibilities frequently based on staffing and demand of daily schedule. They must wear protective harness, operate handheld scan gun and use pallet jacket. They are required to operate forklift, reach truck, order picker and dock stocker. They must be a certified operator to operate moving equipment. Shippers are required to cross-train in split case, receiving, warehouse and full-case. Shippers are required to monitor inventory. They are also required to load & unload trucks, apply labels to boxes on moving conveyor lines, pull parts from high shelves and sort boxes on conveyor lines. Each shipper is responsible for supporting the company’s mission statement and the overall business objective. Shippers are required to be detail oriented. They may work with others or independently. Shippers must have good math and organization skills. They also must display good communication skills. Shippers must meet OSHA requirements prior to operating moving power equipment.
