About The Position

The Shipper Receiver - Nights position is responsible for storing and retrieving goods, preparing products for shipment, and maintaining accurate inventory. This role involves operating an industrial forklift, using a handheld scan gun for lot tracking, and adhering to safety and operational guidelines. The position also includes performing minor equipment service, maintaining the work area, creating product labels, and completing various reports. Teamwork and adherence to company operating systems are essential. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be able to climb on and off of the forklift.
  • Must be able to back forklift up safely which requires turning neck and body in the opposite direction.
  • Must be able to lift and stack up to 75 lbs from floor to crown.
  • Will be required to work in extreme temperatures both hot and cold, wet, dry, dusty environment.
  • Must be able to sit and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds multiple times daily.
  • Must be able to work in temperature extremes.
  • Safety Glasses, Rubber Gloves, Rubber boots, Rubber Apron, Hearing Protection, and any other PPE as required in the appropriate area.
  • Knowledge of Julian calendar, FIFO practices.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Perform basic math.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Working with large moving equipment.
  • Knowledge of military time, RFGEN and JDE.
  • Shipping and receiving knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Store and retrieve goods in the storage area.
  • Rotate stock so oldest materials are used first.
  • Note and report any damaged cartons, crates, or containers.
  • Record items added or removed from inventory.
  • Prepare products for shipment by retrieving designated product and ensuring it is properly loaded and sealed correctly.
  • Store product by using an industrial forklift and a handheld scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Operate a forklift to pick up, move, load, and unload product on or from trailers while meeting department, facility, company, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform minor service of equipment and complete written daily safety inspections.
  • Identify and report noted problems to supervisor for further inspection and repair.
  • Change batteries or fuel bottles, refuel forklift, or troubleshoot repairs as needed.
  • Maintain the work area, dock, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to storage design principles, and recommending improvements.
  • Create product labels for inventory purposes.
  • Read and understand lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules.
  • Complete various reports daily and enter required information into the computer program efficiently and timely.
  • Use basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, air, and water hoses.
  • Consolidate partial pallets as directed by the production supervisor.
  • Maneuver forklift in tight spaces while maintaining a safe work zone for other drivers and team members.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems and understand the role in supporting these systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
