About The Position

This role is responsible for constructing boxes and crates, quality checking shipments, and operating a forklift. The position involves packing products to minimize waste and prevent shifting during transit, and ensuring all shipping specifications are met. The employee will notify management of any defects or issues affecting shipments and will perform all packing functions. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a clean work area and may involve cross-training in other positions within the company. Duties are subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

• Regularly required to bend at the waist and knees.
• Stand for extended periods of time.
• Frequently lift 50 pounds.
• Work 10-hour days with most of the time on your feet.
• Work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
• Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
• Able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Able to work in a dusty environment.
• Able to read measurements in inches.

Responsibilities

• Constructs boxes and crates by hand using machinery and hand tools.
• Quality checks all shipments to ensure shipping specifications are met.
• Operates forklift.
• Measures parts to determine the correct size box or crate for shipment.
• Packs products to minimize waste and avoid shifting during transit.
• Inspects shipments to ensure shipping specifications are met (correct vendor on label, correct quantity, packaged correctly).
• Notifies the shipping group leader or management of defects, shortages, or other problems affecting shipments.
• Reviews orders to ensure shipping specifications are met (correct vendor, method of shipment, number of items, packaged properly).
• Operates forklift to load shipments on trucks.
• Performs all packing functions.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
• Cross-trains in other positions as required.
