About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking to hire various skill levels of production Shipfitters, from Journeyman level step 2 and above mechanics, for their Submarine program at the Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. These roles are responsible for fabrication on submarine manufacturing. The primary tasks will include fitting and fabricating components such as structural parts, deck plates, bulkheads, and foundations, requiring basic blueprint reading and fitting fundamentals. Positions are available for both day and night shifts.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years shipyard Journeyperson level experience.
Must be able to fabricate components based on NAVSEA drawing requirements with minimum direction given.
Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
Must be able to pass an oxy-fuel torch test consistent of set up, cutting, and beveling.
Must be able to understand, read and interpret basic welding symbols based on the requirements of Military Standard 22-D.
Working knowledge of Military Standard 1688 and Military Standard 1689.
Good communication and good interpersonal skills.
Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in use of overhead cranes.
Previous experience in shop equipment such as iron worker, break press and plate roller.

Responsibilities
