About The Position

This is a mid-level experience position to work in the Shipfitting Trade. Applicants will be assigned any Shipfitter trade function with limited assistance from a more experienced Shipfitter, including fabrication of items made from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum such as hull outfit foundations, tanks, small assemblies, and bulkhead assemblies using sketches and drawings. Responsibilities also include installing items on units or on ships including set up of mock stations, layout and installation of shell/deck stringers, layout and installation of back-up structure, layout and install hull outfit foundations using assembly sketches and blue prints. Additionally, fabricating and installing major equipment foundations using fabrication sketches and drawings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in metals fabrication or installation.
  • Must be able to read blueprints in detail.
  • Must have experience working with metal, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Must meet the requirements of the Shipfitter physical task analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year Technical or Vocational training in steel fabrication or carpentry trade.
