Under general supervision, perform normal craft-specific duties as required to support steel construction and repairs on marine vessels. Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described. Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays. Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations and policies while performing duties. May assist in aligning parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls. May assist in installing packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips. Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding. Lay out parts, bulkheads, and frames. Loft parts from a table of offsets. Build bulkheads and decks with assistance from supervisor. Flag cranes and be able to perform some rigging of small lifts and bulkheads. Perform some general layout work. Perform other duties as assigned.
