Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of measurement science principles and be able to independently calibrate equipment and remove/install instruments
  • Must be able to calculate specifications/tolerances.
  • Must be able to properly analyze results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations.
  • Must be able and willing to travel worldwide (more than 50% required), including weekends and periods of 2-3 weeks consecutive travel
  • Must have a US Passport or ability to obtain one
  • Must be able to access naval bases and shipyards
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must have a driver's license
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in small or confined spaces

Nice To Haves

  • 2-Year degree from a technical school or equivalent experience within military and/or calibration industry

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration for pressure gauges, RPM indicators, temperature measurement devices and other related equipment found on board US Navy ships.
  • Determine the correct measurement tools and equipment needed to perform applicable maintenance and calibrations. Substitute for appropriate standards when necessary.
  • Conduct test and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality and/or performance compliance.
  • Apply measurement science principles and mathematical methods to accurately record and report all findings.
  • Interpret measurement findings and determine and implement best course of corrective action (i.e., adjust versus replace).
  • Identify equipment failures and remove/replace as needed.
