About The Position

This role provides technical oversight, Quality Assurance surveillance, and administrative reporting in accordance with NAVSEA 9090-310 and Navy Standard Items as delineated in the Government’s Statement of Work. Additional support may include oversight of contracted labor and hands-on assistance for Flight Deck Aviation Certifications (AVCERT) related work, which may involve troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, and replacement of components. The position requires a thorough understanding of electrical theory, technical publications, blueprints, and schematics, along with the ability to prioritize workload and maintain schedules. The individual will also be responsible for tool accountability, adherence to electrical tag-out procedures, and knowledge of safety, FOD, Tool Control, HAZMAT/HAZWASTE, and NAVOSH procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • At least 6-8 years of experience
  • NAVSEA Cableway Certification
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of shipboard electrical troubleshooting and repair procedures.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Possess working knowledge of technical publications, blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.

  • If a Veteran, must have earned an honorable discharge (preferred) but no less than a General discharge under Honorable conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical oversight, Quality Assurance surveillance, and administrative reporting in accordance with NAVSEA 9090-310 and Navy Standard Items.
  • Provides oversight of contracted labor and hands-on assistance for Flight Deck Aviation Certifications (AVCERT) related work, including troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, and replacement of components.
  • Secures electrically, identifies, tags, disconnects, and removes Aircraft Power Cables and records electrical hook-up data.
  • Accomplishes visual inspection of cables, repairs or replaces as required, reinstalls using hook-up data, and tests IAW SI 009-73.
  • Secures electrically, troubleshoots, repairs, refurbishes, or builds and replaces power panels or controllers IAW SI 009-36.
  • Performs cableway inspections as required before, during, and after work is accomplished on various systems IAW DOD-STD-2003 NAVY ESPIM.
  • Secures electrically, identifies, tags, disconnects, and pulls back existing electrical cable circuits through existing deck penetrations requiring repair or replacement, records electrical hook-up data, and reinstalls cables using retained hook-up data.
  • Removes unused and/or broken off stuffing tubes in well deck areas and welds inserts in place of removed stuffing tubes.
  • Accomplishes visual inspection of cable penetrations for structural integrity, deterioration, pitting, cracks, and areas of damage or distortion and repairs or replaces as necessary to ensure they are watertight.
  • Provides oversight and hands-on experience for 400HZ and 28VDC Aircraft and Helicopter Electrical Service Stations (AESS/HESS) and their associated systems and components repairs, refurbishments, and testing.
  • Provides oversight and hands-on experience for Large Amphib-class ships Well Deck LCAC and LCU Electrical and Mechanical upgrades.
  • Provides oversight and hands-on experience for Hangar Bay and Well Deck Lighting SCD Upgrades for Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) compatible lighting installations.
  • Maintains tool accountability of all personal and company related tools.
  • Scrupulously follows all electrical tag-out procedures.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of all Safety, FOD, Tool Control, HAZMAT/ HAZWASTE, NAVOSH procedures related to work assigned.
  • Follows all company programs and directives as required to ensure safe and efficient maintenance operations.
  • Works with contractor(s) in the support of daily maintenance actions, managing all aspects of local company and command policies and administrative processing.
  • Completes assigned maintenance actions properly and accurately.
  • Coordinates with and works in support of respective ship’s force personnel, possessing and applying relevant skills and knowledge in support of all Hull, Mechanical & Electrical related maintenance operations.
  • Acts as a liaison between contracted labor employees and ship’s force personnel to ensure continuity and mutual support.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and supports all required maintenance actions with AVMAC LLC Program/Project Manager (PM).
  • Compiles and presents information to ship’s force personnel and to the PM as required.
  • Works independently with minimal direction.
  • Interprets drawings and schematics for work assigned.
  • Receives and routes communications to AVMAC LLC personnel as required.
  • Travels and supports all AVMAC LLC maintenance operations as directed.
  • Complies with policies and procedures as set forth in the corporation’s Handbook of Policy and Procedure, and Quality Control Plan.
  • Works, cooperates, and communicates, as directed by the PM, with other supervisors, team leaders, and coworkers satisfactorily.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program/Project Manager.
  • Potentially some travel involved.
