Our Platform Modernization team is seeking a Shipboard Electrician to support work in the San Diego, CA area. In this role, you will support the Integrated Training Systems Installation and Sustainment (ITSIS) Program, working aboard active surface ships and at shore-based communication facilities. Responsibilities include using mechanical tools to install, upgrade, and remove industrial equipment as part of system alterations and installations. This position requires travel to shipyards and military bases both within the U.S. and internationally when not assigned to local tasks. Per diem is available based on travel location, and all travel and lodging expenses are company‑covered.

Requirements

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction.
  • Must be capable of using various electrical/electronic measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Travel passport.

Nice To Haves

  • An active Secret security clearance or above.
  • Previous or current ITSIS experience.
  • Previous or current marine electrician experience for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and connectors on Navy and other marine vessels IAW NAVSEA STD 009-123 Fiber Optic and/or NAVSEA STD 009-073 Multi-pin Copper.
  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • Prior AIT or active-duty experience on current active class ships is preferred.
  • Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ITSIS Program on Navy surface ships and shore‑based communication facilities, installing, upgrading, removing, and troubleshooting fiber‑optic cables, connectors, and related equipment for fleet modernization.
  • Perform installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and associated software at customer and field locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, analyze product performance, and ensure proper coordination of engineering field changes.
  • Maintain strong customer communication and provide onsite training to customer support personnel as needed.
  • Apply technical knowledge to complete complex tasks, assist with technical documentation (work packages, procedures, test documents, reports), and perform duties outside the primary specialty to support installation requirements.
