About The Position

This position proactively supports the US Navy Commander, Naval Air Force, US Atlantic Fleet’s (COMNAIRLANT) Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT) Project. This mechanic will provide troubleshooting, assessment, mechanical repairs and testing of U.S. Navy ship AC&R systems/equipment and air compressors onboard ships. Requirements

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and CAC card.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential Security Clearance.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing York R-134A Reefer Compressors and 363 Ton Centrifugal Air Conditioning Compressors.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with the following: Dresser Rand CAP 12 Ships Service Compressors (SSAC), Sauer High Pressure Air Compressors, JP-5 Pumps, Purifiers, Titanium Fire Pumps, York Refrigeration Compressors, Solid Waste Processing Equipment and Steam Hot Water Heaters.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and/or technical manuals.
  • Must have ability to train, teach and/or mentor coworkers and customer personnel in maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • A current Universal EPA certification.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • A current, active DoD confidential security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Master understanding of production and processes.

  • Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
  • May perform quality inspections on finished product.
  • Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
