About The Position

This role is responsible for counting, weighing, and identifying items in the shipping and receiving department. Key duties include loading and unloading trucks and completing shipping and receiving report forms. The position requires operating a forklift and other material handling equipment, as well as inputting data into AS400 accounting system and other computer programs. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and performing all work in a safe manner following established safety procedures are essential. The role may also involve pulling prints, verifying orders, ensuring orders are not mixed, participating on project teams, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Satisfactorily pass forklift driver test.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Ability to keep high degree of attention for prevention of injury to others.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic Math skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply or divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, & decimals. Determine the number of individual things in a unit or group.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, or moving, and repetitive foot action.
  • Occasional climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Medium heavy lifting 100 lbs. maximum with continuous lifting and/or carrying objects with average weight of 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Repetitive Hand Action: Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.

Responsibilities

  • Count, weigh, and identify items in the shipping and receiving department.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Complete shipping and receiving report forms.
  • Verify shipping & receiving materials against vendor's invoices, bills of lading, customer orders, and packing lists.
  • Keep records of damaged or defective products.
  • Keep records of discrepancies in quantities and weights.
  • Document time, date, quantity, source and destination of material shipped or received.
  • Operate a forklift truck and other material handling equipment.
  • Input data into AS400 accounting system and other computer programs.
  • Pull prints, verify orders, and ensure that orders are not mixed.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner following established safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate on project teams as requested.
