Requirements

  • 7+ years of mechanical experience in a GMP environment required (cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical, food industry, or related consumer goods)
  • Ability to work with no supervision and ensure high quality, craftsmanship work.
  • Ability to effectively manage time including work schedules, events, programs, and other activities.
  • Ability to plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Ability to inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment including lathes, presses and bandsaws.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to production/manufacturing equipment.
  • Skills and experience to operate and maintain filling, packaging, labeling, product handling and facilities equipment.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
  • Accomplished skills in troubleshooting and repairs to pneumatics, hydraulics, air handling systems and/or associated controls.
  • Ability to maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Developing and practicing leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in lean manufacturing (preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make programming changes in programmable logic controls (PLCs) systems, preferred.
  • Ability to redesign the functionality of existing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists, plans, and engages in daily production, manufacturing and facilities equipment set-up, operations, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Anticipates production and manufacturing equipment problems, (i.e., material shortages, equipment malfunctions, changeovers, etc.) such that loss of work hours is minimized, and Production, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality objectives are achieved.
  • Assigns and coordinates specific work assignments and activities by determining team members skills, work force hours, recommends overtime, purchases materials, controls costs, and workflow to achieve production, maintenance, facilities, and quality objectives; exchanges timely information with maintenance staff on interdepartmental work force and equipment needs.
  • Evaluates, instructs, trains, motivates, and assists team members to ensure safety, quality, production, maintenance, and facilities objectives are achieved.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager in the selection and interview process to fill worker positions.
  • Ensures all work is performed and completed according to standard operating procedures, job instructions, Shiseido safety/OHSA, and quality guidelines.
  • Assists Maintenance staff in the implementation of all Shiseido safety policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices, workplace inspections, awareness of hazardous conditions; and responds to employee injuries.
  • Assists Maintenance staff in investigating accident causes and recommends a solution to prevent accident reoccurrence.
  • Works with Maintenance Staff to reduce equipment costs, recommends improvements in equipment repair processes and operation.
  • Maintains professionalism by staying abreast of new developments through publications, vendors and in-house management training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
