About The Position

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as program operations require. The role involves supervising the daily operation of assigned shifts to ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment for youth. The Shift Supervisor will provide direct supervision and support to youth, ensure implementation of individualized service plans, reinforce DBT skills, and promote Positive Youth Development. Responsibilities also include facilitating independent living skills, conducting inspections, responding to crises, assisting with admissions, and providing transportation. The position may also serve in an on-call supervisory capacity and requires representing the agency professionally in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete all required DYS and agency training.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred; Associate Degree with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with adolescents or young adults in residential care, juvenile justice, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required DYS, EEC, CORI, SORI, and agency background clearances.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Must meet agency driving requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or lead staff experience preferred.
  • Experience working with justice-involved youth and trauma-affected populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of DYS regulations, trauma-informed care, Positive Youth Development, DBT, and crisis intervention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operation of assigned shifts to ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in accordance with DYS regulations, agency policies, and program expectations.
  • Ensure implementation of individualized service plans and independent living goals.
  • Reinforce DBT skills taught by the Clinician and monitor completion of daily DBT Diary Cards.
  • Coach youth in emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, problem-solving, and healthy decision-making.
  • Promote Positive Youth Development (PYD) by integrating the Five Cs, DYS Core Values, and the Positive Behavior Incentive Program into daily programming.
  • Ensure each youth receives consistent advocacy and mentoring through the Enhanced Advocacy Program.
  • Facilitate and monitor independent living skill development, including budgeting, meal planning, household management, transportation, employment readiness, educational participation, and personal responsibility.
  • Conduct routine room inspections, wellness checks, and safety rounds.
  • Respond to behavioral crises, emergencies, and incidents using trauma-informed and non-coercive intervention techniques.
  • Assist with youth admissions, orientations, and successful program transitions.
  • Provide transportation and community supervision as assigned.
  • Immediately notify program leadership of significant incidents, AWOL events, abuse or neglect concerns, PREA allegations, medical emergencies, or other situations requiring administrative notification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Program Director or Program Director.
