About The Position

The Shift Supervisor coordinates the daily activities of both Residents and Staff during their shift. They ensure that the Recovery Support Staff complete their assigned tasks and all Residents participate in all assigned activities as scheduled. While the Shift Supervisor monitors the facility and coordinates Residents and Staff activities in such a way as to ensure safety, observance of rules and security of persons and property, they also represent the program’s hospitality, and the promotion of recovery, and the conduct of a home-like environment. While primary placement is within a specific residential program, RSS may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to other program sites as needed to support operations, ensure adequate staffing coverage, and support program continuity.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with SUD and/or SPMI populations
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be well organized, have good communication, writing and problem solving skills.

  • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and closely supervises all program and operation staff activities during their shift.
  • Communicate all incidents, reportable and non-reportable, to his/her supervisor.
  • Provides feedback to Primary Counselors and other treatment staff when necessary.
  • Ensures that all Resident documentation is distributed and filed appropriately.
  • Ensures that the Resident appointment calendar is accurate and current.
  • Witnesses and logs the residents’ urine screening and observes and logs the reading of alcohol Sensor (Breathalyzer).
  • Ensures completion of RSS checklist, provides follow-up to previously completed Shift Supervisor, and reports finding to the management team.
  • Responds to crisis situations by ensuring Residents receive appropriate intervention services including, but not limited to, medical or psychiatric emergencies services and conflict resolution with peers.
  • Participates in staff development groups, feedback meetings, staff trainings and other meetings and groups as assigned.
  • Must be on the floor with residents’ except when engaged in administrative duties.
  • Ensures that residents that Residents follow stipulations related to loss their privileges (L.O.P’s) or have their assigned Learning Experiences (L.E.’s) and ensures that L.O.P’s and L.E.’s are carried out as directed. Also monitor residents on house containment and speaking bans.
  • Facilitates or participates in resident activities, groups, and meetings when needed.
  • Maintains the bulletin board in the HMO ensuring that appropriate and current documentation is posted.
  • Participates in house turnover, ensuring that all cash and supplies are safely and accurately maintained and documented.
  • Supervises client self-administration of prescribed medications. Immediately reports all issues, concerns, and/or discrepancies to supervisors and medical team.
