About The Position

The Shift Supervisor position at San Pasqual Academy in Escondido, California, is a key member of the Site Management Team, responsible for the daily oversight of Group Living operations, staff supervision, and student safety. San Pasqual Academy is situated on a beautiful 238-acre campus in rural San Pasqual Valley, offering amenities typical of a private high school, including classrooms, an auditorium, gym, and cafeteria, along with on-grounds sports and activities like basketball, softball, and football. The campus features residential staff and house parents who serve as surrogate parents, providing mentorship and tutoring, teaching age-appropriate independent living skills, fostering new interests, encouraging participation in sports and recreation, assisting with career and job exploration, and promoting family living skills. This role provides leadership, structure, and direction to ensure that all residential programming adheres to Rite of Passage (ROP) policies, Title 22 regulations, and licensing standards. The Shift Supervisor monitors daily schedules, staffing ratios, and site safety; coaches and develops team members; facilitates meetings, fire drills, and incident reporting; and ensures accurate documentation and compliance across departments. They are also tasked with overseeing staff performance, managing scheduling and resources, and supporting crisis intervention efforts, all while modeling professionalism, accountability, and ROP’s core values. As a mentor to both staff and students, the Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining a positive, structured, and safe living environment for all program participants, contributing to the organization's mission to improve the lives of youth and help them become successful adults.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in juvenile treatment, corrections, or residential care
  • One year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Meet all state licensing and ROP requirements
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License with a clean three-year driving record
  • Successfully pass a background check
  • Successfully pass a drug screen
  • Successfully pass a physical
  • Successfully pass a TB test
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work weekends, overnights, and on-call as needed
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Behavioral Science, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field
