About The Position

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for effectively leading a production team in the efficient and safe production of corrugated products. This role involves coordinating with the production manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules, prioritizing work orders, maintaining quality requirements, and ensuring an even flow of work to maximize up-time and minimize downtime. The supervisor will also schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve time records, and communicate and implement company policy. Additionally, the role includes engaging in employee development, making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and disciplinary actions, and maintaining a clean, safe, and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed. The supervisor will conduct ongoing employee training on equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations, and waste control. Analyzing production performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and establishing goals are also key responsibilities. The role requires supervising the efficient operation of equipment, including inspecting materials, products, and equipment for potential malfunctions, and participating in production meetings. Requesting necessary materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services is also part of the job.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years’ previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity at a manufacturing facility.
  • Previous experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework.
  • Experience in a corrugated packaging environment is preferred.
  • Established knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes and safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems including shop floor software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.
  • Strong listening, evaluating, and problem-solving skills. Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.
  • Solid analytical, mechanical, and mathematical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, practices, and requests for information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management.
  • Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activity with the production manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules to meet production goals, prioritize work orders, maintain quality requirements, and assure an even flow of work through all the departments to increase up-time and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve time records, communicate and implement company policy.
  • Engage in employee development activities, make recommendations on employee hire, promotion and disciplinary action.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.
  • Conduct employee training on all equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations and waste control on an ongoing basis.
  • Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, make recommendations for process and equipment improvement, establish and execute goals.
  • Supervise efficient operation of equipment including the inspection of materials, products and equipment to detect and/or prevent malfunctions.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide updates as needed.
  • Request materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as needed.

Benefits

  • Starting salary range for position: $65,000 - $80,000.
  • Annual Bonus – Based upon individual contribution and overall, Company performance.
  • Three (3) weeks of Paid Vacation per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
