Shift Supervisor - New West Side Location
About The Position
This role requires a friendly and outgoing individual who is willing to help customers and resolve complaints in a friendly and professional manner. The ideal candidate enjoys being busy, is self-motivated, able to multi-task, and moves quickly to provide fast service. This position involves motivating, training, and directing staff within the store, using assertive leadership to assign and inspect tasks, and maintaining responsive communication with store management and associates. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring policies and safety rules are implemented and followed, performing daily bookkeeping and bank deposits, processing customer transactions, participating in suggestive selling, monitoring cash control procedures, and maintaining store cleanliness and stock levels. Additionally, the role involves following guidelines for food preparation and sanitation, operating food equipment, and adhering to safety procedures, including fuel dispensing.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a retail environment required, preferably in a lead position.
- Great customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and management.
- Able to read, write, hear, clearly speak, and understand the English language.
- Able to perform basic math calculations to make correct change and accurately complete shift reports.
- Good accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to multi-task.
- Able to process all types of point of sale transactions efficiently and with minimal error.
- Able to assist other employees troubleshoot and correct minor transaction errors.
- Able to perform daily bookkeeping procedures, troubleshoot and correct bookkeeping errors, and take deposits to the bank.
- Able to carry, push/pull, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds alone.
- Able to carry out trash containers and lift to place in outside bin.
- Occasional use of a step ladder.
- Occasional bend, kneel, stoop, squat, and reaching over shoulder height.
- Prolonged walking or standing for up to 8-10 continuous hours, including but not limited to a concrete or tile surface.
- Able to sweep/mop and maintain interior/exterior lots/ground and equipment.
- Able to shovel snow.
- Able to work alone and/or with others.
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to enter and work in freezer and coolers at temperatures of 10 degrees up to 30 minutes at a time.
- Able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have access to a vehicle.
- Must be able to provide documentation of auto insurance coverage on vehicle.

Responsibilities
- Motivate, train, and direct staff within the store.

- Clean and sanitize restrooms.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays both inside and outside.
- Follow guidelines for preparing food and operate food equipment.
- Follow food sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor safe temperatures and record waste.
- Maintain and follow safety procedures, including fuel dispensing.
