About The Position

AKWEL is a family-run, independent group with a long-term vision, specializing in automotive equipment and systems. As a Shift Supervisor at the Cadillac Plant, you will oversee manufacturing operations, ensuring quality and quantity targets are met. This role involves continuous organization and optimization of production, managing team performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards. You will be responsible for leading a team of 10-18 manufacturing operators and support staff, managing their development, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory / managerial experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Experience with hiring, training/coaching, safety, & performance management and appraisals of 10-18 subordinate employees
  • Ability to supervise
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Spirit of leadership
  • Ability to suggest new ideas
  • Able to take initiative and handle unexpected situations
  • Analytical and able to summarize data
  • Able to mobilize the appropriate human resources based on production schedules and employee skills levels
  • Mechanical Aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Supervises 10-18 manufacturing operators and support team members.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of the production line in terms of quality and quantity.
  • Continuously organizes and optimizes production in terms of Quality, Costs and Deadlines; participates in Lean Manufacturing and Kanban initiatives.
  • Manages activity charts and monitors the performance of the production lines.
  • Assigns Operators based on their skills and versatility according to the production schedule while adhering to customer requirements.
  • Manages employees including training needs assessment, evaluations, recruitment, and absence management.
  • Ensures product is made to defined quality standards and organizes daily production line QRQC meetings.
  • Participates in quality events by implementing verification measures and introducing problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D).
  • Ensures verification during the manufacturing process according to the monitoring plan.
  • Ensures the application of identification and traceability measures during manufacturing.
  • Handles machine breakdowns by ensuring timely interventions by technicians and reassigning personnel if necessary.
  • Ensures all breakdowns are tracked on appropriate documents/systems.
  • Guarantees the application of workstation cleanliness and 5S Standards & Environmental rules.
