About The Position

S:US is currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Families with Children Shelter located in Brooklyn. This program is located at Dumont Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11207. The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for supervision, fire safety, administrative duties, client interaction, facility monitoring, and crisis response. This role requires a high level of responsibility and maturity, with a schedule that includes weekend and evening hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in Security or Building Maintenance is required.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention utilizing good interpersonal skills with a high level of maturity and responsibility
  • Experience in office management and/or staff supervision is required.
  • Experience working in a large residential/institutional setting with a special needs population is required.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
  • F-80 certification required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing individual supervisory meetings, building inspections, and feedback regarding job performance.
  • Coordinate work schedules, timesheets, requests for time off, and work assignments.
  • Evaluate paperwork and documentation, including Security Log and Maintenance Work Order Log books.
  • Coordinate security and maintenance staff training, development, and evaluation.
  • Fulfill duties of residential aides and/or custodial personnel in their absence.
  • Coordinate Fire Safety plan and train all staff on Fire Safety Procedures and Building Evacuation.
  • Coordinate monthly fire drills and maintain fire drill logs.
  • Perform periodic building inspections checking for fire safety hazards, violations, and related systems.
  • Coordinate servicing and documenting service/inspections of all fire safety equipment.
  • Provide new program clients with written fire safety and prevention information.
  • Complete transfer paperwork, intakes with new clients, and Incident Reports.
  • Maintain visitor log books, vehicle sign out sheets, and mail logs.
  • Maintain roster in CARES and accurately record bedding.
  • Correspond via email.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate staff/client boundaries and direct clients to appropriate staff or departments.
  • Communicate regarding incidents and client observations with Facility Manager, Case Managers, Senior Case Managers, Director of Social Services, and Program Director.
  • Assist with new family arrivals, apartment turnovers, and complete intakes and program orientation.
  • Monitor client behavior to ensure compliance with House Rules, Program Policies, and Procedures.
  • Monitor facility exterior and interior to ensure client safety, prevent damage/theft, and prevent emergencies.
  • May be responsible for cleaning program areas after or before usage.
  • Assist with move outs, curfew violators, and new residents. Complete intakes with new residents.
  • Provide guidance to clients in proper upkeep of living quarters, personal hygiene, grooming, attire, meal attendance, workshops, and support activities.
  • Maintain, prepare, and distribute hygiene supplies, donations, and living supplies to clients.
  • Drive program vehicle to transport shelter residents to appointments, housing interviews, job interviews, training sites, and partnering organizations.
  • Conduct periodic building and grounds inspections and report findings to the facility manager.
  • Respond to crisis and emergency situations and contact appropriate authorities.
  • Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, and trainings.
  • Adhere to on-call system for crisis intervention, emergencies, and immediate action situations.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Work a schedule that includes weekend and evening hours, and additional shifts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
