About The Position

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to staff during shifts, ensuring the program operates in accordance with pertinent regulations and agency policy. This role involves assigning responsibilities, ensuring treatment plans are followed, monitoring health and safety, and overseeing diet, nutrition, and planned activities. The Shift Supervisor also ensures accurate documentation, incident management, and adherence to daily schedules and routines. They provide ongoing support to staff, assist in training, and model appropriate behavior and communication. This position participates in staff and individual meetings and performs other duties as requested by the Residence Manager or administration. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the shift in the absence of the Residence Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OPWDD regulations
  • Good management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Computer literate
  • Must have a valid New York state driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision to staff during shifts, including assigning and changing responsibilities.
  • Ensure program operates in accordance with pertinent regulations and agency policy and procedure.
  • Ensure all individuals’ treatment plans are followed appropriately.
  • Provide direct support services as needed.
  • Monitor individuals’ health and safety throughout the shift.
  • Ensure individuals’ diet and nutrition are followed and documented.
  • Ensure planned activities for community integration and/or recreation are completed and documented.
  • Consult with and/or notify the Residence Manager of any required changes.
  • Ensure completion of all documentation in accordance with regulations and agency procedures.
  • Ensure all prescribed reporting procedures are followed accurately and within appropriate time frames.
  • Ensure all regulations, agency procedures, and notifications are followed in regard to incident management and documentation.
  • Ensure that the daily schedule and routines are followed.
  • Provide support to staff on an ongoing basis, including potential and actual crises.
  • Assist in training staff in implementation of individuals’ treatment plans.
  • Model calmness and assurance to set a tone of stability and control.
  • Model appropriate interactions with individuals, staff, family members, and community members.
  • Participate in staff meetings and individuals’ meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties requested by the Residence Manager or administration.
  • Supervise all aspects of the shift in the absence of the Residence Manager.
