About The Position

We are seeking a Shift Engineer with a Massachusetts Second Level Engineer’s License to oversee the safe and efficient operation of our steam plant during assigned shifts. This role is critical to maintaining plant reliability, safety, and environmental compliance. Requirements

  • Must hold a Massachusetts Second Level Engineer's License.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or engineering experience in heavy industrial, power generation, or resource recovery settings.
  • Hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, and electric generating equipment.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems in steam plants.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and meet physical demands, including climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear full-face respirators and work in varied weather conditions.
  • High school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the fuel processing system and operates boilers, turbines, and other steam plant equipment throughout the shift.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental permits, and operational procedures.
  • Approve equipment removal for maintenance, issue safety permits, and oversee clearance processes.
  • Lead and train shift personnel to maintain a skilled, flexible, and safety-conscious workforce.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Respond to emergencies, directing necessary actions to maintain safe operations.
  • Maintain active state and site-required licenses and certifications.
  • Participate in projects to improve plant performance and efficiency.
