About The Position

Umami Riot is seeking a hands-on Shift Manager to work the line and lead the team at gogo ya and Ms. Clucks. The Shift Manager prepares food alongside the team while maintaining food quality, service pace, kitchen safety, and team coordination. When the Area Manager is away, this role serves as the point person on the floor. The position requires working in a fast-paced kitchen and maintaining high standards for sanitation, safety, and cleanliness. It involves extended periods on your feet, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and working around hot equipment, sharp tools, and varying temperatures. Requirements

• At least 2 years of line cook experience in a high-volume kitchen.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• ServSafe Food Protection Manager and allergen awareness certifications, or ability to obtain both within 30 days of hire.
• Clear communication, calmness during busy service, organization, attention to detail, and ability to lead by example.
• Comfort using basic spreadsheets and POS reports.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended shifts and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Commitment to sanitation, safety, and cleanliness.

• Shift lead or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and maintain quality and ticket times; handle station setup, preparation, and breakdown.
• Lead shifts by assigning stations, guiding the team, addressing concerns, managing coverage needs, and keeping the Area Manager informed.
• Complete daily labor reporting before leaving, monitor time punches, and flag overtime or staffing concerns.
• Submit food and beverage orders to maintain pars and support service.
• Enforce kitchen procedures, food safety, allergen awareness, and cleanliness; complete required logs.
• Support interviewing, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Obtain Area Manager approval for staffing adjustments and shift swaps.
• Serve as the point person on the floor when the Area Manager is away.
