About The Position

This role involves managing the Security Department, including staffing, scheduling, evaluations, training, and development of the team. The Shift Manager is responsible for the Security Shift Supervisors, Security Officers, and Emergency Medical Technicians, safeguarding company assets, and enforcing company policies and regulations, including those from the Indiana Gaming Commission. The position also requires reviewing incident reports, assisting with new team member training, escorting cash and chips, maintaining patron relations, and aiding in the preparation of legal defenses. Additionally, the role involves managing claims logs, the Emergency Response Manual, and safety equipment inspections. The Shift Manager identifies and addresses safety issues, conducts investigations, maintains regulatory paperwork, and may administer first aid or provide EMT services if licensed. The role also focuses on maintaining harmony among workers and resolving grievances and complaints. The Shift Manager must be able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, work in an environment with secondhand smoke, loud noises, and large crowds, adhere to company service standards, and be available for varied hours, holidays, and weekends. Additional duties as a Risk and Safety Manager include managing the property Safety Program, serving as Vice Chairperson for the Safety Committee, conducting new hire safety training, and handling various administrative tasks for the Risk Management department. The role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Security unit, carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with company policies and laws, including interviewing, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word and all other systems associated with the position.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolong periods of time (7+ hours).
  • Must be able to work in an environment with secondhand smoke, loud noises, and large crowds.

  • Must be available for regularly scheduled work and be able to work a variety of hours, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Security Department.
  • Assist with staffing, schedules, evaluations, training, development, and monitoring team.
  • Recommend wage increases, promotions, demotions, discipline, and other employment actions for Team Members.
  • Responsible and accountable for the Security Shift Supervisors, Security Officers, and Emergency Medical Technicians assigned to the Casino and remainder of property areas.
  • Safeguard company assets, including Team Members and guests.
  • Enforce the company’s policies and procedures, including rules that apply to the Internal Controls and the Indiana Gaming Commission rules and regulations.
  • Review all Patron Accident Reports and Security Incident Reports.
  • Assist with the training of new Security Team members.
  • Escort chips, tokens, and cash.
  • Maintain patron relations.
  • Assists in the preparation of legal defenses for claims made against the Company.
  • Maintains all claims logs and the claim database.
  • Maintains chronology and records all GL activity.
  • Owns the Emergency Response Manual as well as training exercises to test response.
  • Assist and help schedule for the use and regular inspection of all safety related equipment and supplies on property.
  • Identifies safety issues and communicates with department Manager/Director to eliminate safety issue.
  • Conduct and coordinate Safety and Security related investigations.
  • Maintains required regulatory paperwork (OSHA, etc.). Submits to regulatory agencies, as required, by deadline.
  • Administer minor first aid, when required.
  • If a Licensed EMT, provides EMT Services to Patrons and Team Members as necessary and within the parameters mandated by State Regulations.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Addresses errors and complaints.
  • Manages property Safety Program.
  • Serves as the Vice Chairperson for the Safety Committee.
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation safety training.
  • Prepares correspondence, compiles reports, communicates with clients, assists in the adjudication of claims, maintain files, and establishes claims for the Risk Management department.
  • Manages Security staff within the Security Department.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
