About The Position

The Shift Manager (MedTech) acts as a team leader and direct supervisor of resident caregivers, ensuring resident needs are met. This role involves distributing medications, assisting in the skill training of new resident caregivers, and developing requests for in-service training. The Shift Manager reports directly to the Administrator and Resident Care Coordinator (RCC). In the absence of the Administrator and RCC, the Shift Manager is responsible for the overall flow in the facility and has the authority to make minor decisions regarding care on the floor, including summoning emergency care if a resident is in distress. All other care decisions are made by the Administrator or RCC.

Requirements

  • Assists residents with mobility and transfers.
  • Assists residents at mealtime and daily recreational activities.
  • Communicates resident status changes with the Administrator and RCC.
  • Ensures all medication documentation is current and correct.
  • Coordinates physician and other appointments.
  • Passes medications for the particular shift.
  • Reads all “Shift Communication Notes”.
  • Reports resident conditions to the Administrator and RCC.
  • Provides leadership to direct care staffs.
  • Identifies and communicates resident care priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain resident charts and keep other documentation current on facility forms, licensing forms, physician orders, and incident reports.
  • Ensure caregivers carry out their responsibilities on the particular shift and resident needs are met, including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, oral care, hygiene, skin care, perineum care, and other activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring residents function at their highest physical, cognitive, and social levels.
  • Assist residents with mobility and transfers according to approved assistance protocols.
  • Assist residents at mealtime and with daily recreational activities, including crafts, games, music, exercise, and interaction.
  • Communicate resident status changes with the Administrator and RCC.
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, and central medication storage.
  • Coordinate physician and other appointments for the particular shift.
  • Pass medications for the particular shift and read all “Shift Communication Notes” regarding the facility and residents to be informed of resident conditions, and report such to the Administrator and RCC.
  • Provide leadership to direct care staff by identifying and communicating resident care priorities.
