About The Position

ArcelorMittal Calvert is seeking a Shift Manager for the Ladle Refining area of the Steelmaking Team. This role involves leading operations and managing a team of Ladle Metallurgy operators and Ladle Wall operators to meet business goals. The company utilizes innovative technology and emphasizes a strong safety culture, holding ISO 45001 certification and achieving significantly lower incident rates than the industry average. The facility is a state-of-the-art steel processing plant located in Calvert, Alabama, with a new, cutting-edge Steelmaking facility.

Requirements

Minimum of High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or 4 years of military leadership experience and/or 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a Steelmaking
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Steelmaking (Melting, Refining, Casting)
Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

Advanced process control knowledge
Dayforce and/or SAP experience preferred

Responsibilities

Supervises and directs operations personnel on the specific duties to be accomplished each day
Enforces company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendations
Performs the shift turnover with the previous and following shifts
Works closely with Maintenance team to diagnose problems
Works on continuous improvement of process
Manages personnel work schedules, attendance and timekeeping
Schedules and assigns required training for direct reports
Responsible for documentation and reporting of issues in mill with root cause analysis and recommends solutions
Responsible for the safety, order, and cleanliness of area
