About The Position

This role involves performing electrical and mechanical repairs on Extruders and Thermoformers, as well as servicing ancillary systems to meet production requirements. The mechanic will be expected to diagnose and repair faulty production and related plant equipment with minimal supervision, utilizing provided schematics, drawings, and documentation. Familiarity with all facets and procedures of plant operations is essential.

Requirements

Formal training (apprenticeship in the field of electrician) and supply documentation
Excellent understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics
Familiar with all facets and procedures of plant operations
Strong industrial electrical and mechanical background with formal training which include theory and reading of schematics
Well rounded knowledge of quality of all products
Well rounded knowledge of all safety procedures
Stationary standing: 75% of the shift.
Walking: 75% of the shift.
Touching/Handling Product: 5% of the shift.
Sitting: 10% of the shift.
Useing Controls/Tools: 100% of the shift.
Reaching-(Hand & Arm): 100% of the shift.
Shifting/Twisting/Rotating core: 100% of the shift.
Climb or Balances: 25% of the shift.
Stoop, Kneel, Crouch or Crawl: 75% of the shift.
Talk or hear: 100% of the shift.
Smell: 5% of the shift.
Ability to lift 75 pounds/Max.

Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Operating a forklift or other material handling equipment is considered a "Safety Sensitive" function.
Compliance with all facility rules and regulations.
Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their Supervisor.
Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.
Communicate to Management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)/properly and reporting any defective PPE.
Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.
Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent certification or experience on the job, manufacturing experience; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience would be good.
Need to have good math, reading, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain a full complement of tools to enable him/her to perform his/her normal duties
Able to break down and set up for all Thermoforming product on machinery to the standards set for cycle and quality and be able to clean and prepare all tooling for set up.
Capable of diagnosing and repairing plant equipment entirely on his own, without supervision
Maintain the necessary hand tools needed to perform job duties in a productive manner
Capable of keeping accurate records of work performed
Perform work in a safe manner to personnel and equipment
Able to use a fire extinguisher
Get assistance to resolve any issues to get machine back in operation
Housekeeping, must keep all areas free of debris
Wear all required PPE per the Maintenance staff
Must adhere to and be in compliance with all SQF/GMP standards
Leads and trains new hires
