About The Position

Velvet Taco is seeking a Relentless and possibly Rebellious Shift Leader who believes teamwork is the secret ingredient to achieving greatness. This role is for individuals who want to be part of a TRIBE of people who stand together, operate with purpose, and WIN. The Shift Leader will manage hourly team members, interact with guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way, and execute opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines. This position requires adeptness at handling guest concerns, guiding them toward a positive resolution, and managing cash-handling, POS drawers, comps, voids, and deposits. The Shift Leader will present as a leader, motivating others to follow procedures, work with urgency, and ensure a positive guest experience, while also being skilled at de-escalating issues between team members. Support for management with inventory, ensuring food safety, managing the daily prep list, and maintaining a safe environment for team members and guests are key responsibilities. The role also involves communicating and delivering a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience, embracing feedback, and taking accountability for actions, all while being proficient in a fast-paced environment and managing time effectively.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older.
2 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor in a Restaurant Environment.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on Restaurant needs.
Regularly exposed to heat and/or humid conditions.
Lunch and dinner rushes require constant multitasking in a fluctuating, fast-paced work environment.
Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products on a regular basis.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Kneeling occasionally to reach low storage and refrigeration.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion, composure, and professionalism.
Possesses a Food Handler's Certification and is comfortable working around food.
Possesses an Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification and complies with all regulations.
Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision are required.
Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

Manages the Hourly Team Members and interacts with Guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way.
Executes opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines.
Skilled at handling Guest concerns and guiding them toward a positive resolution.
Adept at cash-handling, setting up POS drawers, performing comps and voids, and managing deposits during the shift.
Presents self as a leader among the Team Members and one that motivates others to follow procedures, work with a sense of urgency, and ensure a positive Guest experience.
Skilled at de-escalating issues between Team Members, making everyone feel heard.
Supports Management with the inventory process.
Always keeps food safety a high priority during the shift by performing line checks, checking shelf storage and expiration dates for prepped food, and keeping the restaurant clean and in order.
Manages the daily prep list and signs off on all prepped items to ensure adherence to our specifications and flavor profiles.
Acts as a role model when it comes to maintaining an environment that is safe for our Team Members & Guests by enforcing the use of cut gloves, keeping floors clean and dry, and removing any obstacles that may prevent a work or dining space.
Communicates and delivers a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience.
Embraces feedback, is eager to learn, and takes accountability for their actions.
