About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking a dynamic shift leader of Manufacturing Ops & Assembly to oversee our Blue Ring Space craft fabrication processes. This pivotal role will lead teams in achieving operational excellence while collaborating with cross-functional departments to continuously enhance manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, adept at resource management, and committed to maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as an individual contributor within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, work instructions, drawings, schematics, manuals).
  • Willing and able to support non‑standard hours (nights, weekends, and holidays, work in field/industrial environments, and travel occasionally to other Blue Origin sites or payload processing locations.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or other relevant field
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies and tools (e.g., CAD software, ERP systems).
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of successful team leadership and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, Military, or equivalent experience.
  • Have a Top Secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead technicians/operators in day‑to‑day mission, test, and/or launch operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor work (shift coverage, work center assignments, overtime, and backup coverage).
  • Mentor manufacturing teams, providing guidance and fostering a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and openness, and sharing information to foster unity.
  • Ensure work is performed per approved procedures, work instructions, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to address manufacturing challenges, balancing day-to-day activities with strategic planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and metrics.
  • Monitor production performance and provide regular updates to senior management, demonstrating sound judgment and understanding the impact of team actions on business drivers and adapting to industry changes.
  • Conduct regular performance check‑ins and reviews; coach, develop, and mentor team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards, and take initiative on opportunities and challenges with urgency and enthusiasm.
  • Support new product introductions and scale up production capabilities.
  • Evaluate inputs and criteria to make informed decisions with a focus on decision quality.
  • Maintain clean, organized, compliant work areas (e.g., 5S, “clean as you go,” tool/FOD control).
  • Overseeing the fabrication and assembly of structural components, routing of wire harnesses, fabrication of flight harnesses and assembly of the entire propulsion system, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor production processes to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Implement standardized techniques in manufacturing techniques to enhance structural performance and reduce costs.
