About The Position

Playa Bowls is hiring a Shift Leader to help operate its fast-casual restaurant. The Shift Leader is an extension of management and may be trusted with the shop when management is not present. The role suits a positive, enthusiastic people-person who enjoys a fast-paced environment, teamwork, and the company’s focus on healthy products and fun. The Shift Leader delegates work while prioritizing the needs of the shop and helps ensure that operations meet company standards. The position includes leading opening and closing shifts, maintaining food quality, handling customer issues and refunds, tracking inventory, managing cash counts and deposits, and communicating with management. Employees receive tips and discounts, including a free bowl and 50% off while working, and 30% off when not working. Playa Bowls also offers a training program intended to help employees develop skills for future careers. Applicants must be available to work weekends and pass the required PB Food Safety certification within three months of employment. The job requires prolonged periods in a stationary position, occasional lifting or moving of 25–40 pounds, reaching items on high and low shelving and in refrigerators or freezers, tolerating occasional loud sounds, and moving frequently around the establishment.

Requirements

Must be available to work weekends.
Must pass the required PB Food Safety certification within three months of employment.
Must be able to remain stationary for prolonged periods.
Must be able to lift or otherwise move 25–40 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to retrieve items from high and low shelving, the fridge/freezer, and under counters.
Must be able to tolerate occasionally loud environments, including sounds from blenders, timers, and order notifications.
Must be able to move frequently within the establishment to access the point-of-sale register, assemble orders, clear tables, and restock inventory.
A team player with a positive attitude and flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

Manage food quality and discard products when necessary.
Delegate work to employees appropriately and responsibly.
Lead opening and closing shifts.
Manage and issue refunds.
Resolve customer issues politely and professionally.
Manage and record inventory levels during the shift and at the end of the night.
Count the register and safe, and prepare the deposit.
Communicate shift issues effectively to management.
