About The Position

Velvet Taco is seeking a Shift Leader who is relentless in the pursuit of excellence and believes teamwork is the secret ingredient to achieving greatness. This role involves managing hourly team members, interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner, and executing daily opening, mid, and closing duties according to Velvet Taco's standards. The Shift Leader is skilled at handling guest concerns, managing cash and POS operations, and serving as a role model for the team. They are responsible for ensuring food safety, managing the daily prep list, and maintaining a safe environment for team members and guests. This position requires effective communication, a willingness to embrace feedback, and proficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 2 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor in a Restaurant Environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on Restaurant needs.
  • Regularly exposed to heat and/or humid conditions.
  • Lunch and dinner rushes require constant multitasking in a fluctuating, fast-paced work environment.
  • Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Kneeling occasionally to reach low storage and refrigeration.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion, composure, and professionalism.
  • Possesses a Food Handler's Certification and is comfortable working around food.
  • Possesses an Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification and complies with all regulations.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision are required.
  • Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Hourly Team Members and interacts with Guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way.
  • Executes opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines.
  • Skilled at handling Guest concerns and guiding them toward a positive resolution.
  • Adept at cash-handling, setting up POS drawers, performing comps and voids, and managing deposits during the shift.
  • Presents self as a leader among the Team Members and one that motivates others to follow procedures, work with a sense of urgency, and ensure a positive Guest experience.
  • Skilled at de-escalating issues between Team Members, making everyone feel heard.
  • Supports Management with the inventory process.
  • Keeps food safety a high priority during the shift by performing line checks, checking shelf storage and expiration dates for prepped food, and keeping the restaurant clean and in order.
  • Manages the daily prep list and signs off on all prepped items to ensure adherence to our specifications and flavor profiles.
  • Acts as a role model when it comes to maintaining an environment that is safe for our Team Members & Guests by enforcing the use of cut gloves, keeping floors clean and dry, and removing any obstacles that may prevent a work or dining space.
  • Communicates and delivers a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience.
  • Embraces feedback, is eager to learn, and takes accountability for their actions.
  • Proficient in a fast-paced environment and manages time effectively.
  • Is comfortable in all areas of the restaurant as it relates to culinary, hospitality, and Guest interaction.
